What this checker shows

Enter a domain and you get Ahrefs' Domain Rating: a single number from 0 to 100 estimating the strength of its backlink profile. The result names the vendor and metric so you do not confuse it with Google's ranking systems or another provider's scale.

What DR, DA and authority scores are

Domain Rating (DR) is Ahrefs' name for its own score, and Domain Authority (DA) is Moz's. Every SEO data company has one, and they all try to answer the same question: how much link strength does this domain have compared with the rest of the web? They're built from different link indexes with different formulas, so a site's scores don't match across vendors.

Authority scores are vendor metrics, not Google's. Google doesn't use DR or DA. They're useful because they correlate with the links Google does use, not because they cause rankings.

What a good score is

ScoreTypical site
0 to 10New or barely linked
10 to 30A growing small business or blog with some earned links
30 to 50An established site that ranks for specific, lower-competition searches
50 to 70A strong brand competitive for most searches in its niche
70 to 100Household names, major publishers and platforms
Rough bands. The scale is logarithmic: going from 60 to 70 takes far more links than going from 10 to 20.

A good score is one close to the sites that rank for the searches you want. Check the top results with the Google rank checker and compare their scores with yours.

How to raise it

Only by earning links from more, and stronger, websites. See who links to you and to competitors with the backlink checker, then go after the sites that link to pages like yours. Scores update as the vendors recrawl, so changes show over months rather than days.
